13th Hogeschool Zeeland Open 2009

India's Adhiban, Rajesh VAV, Karthikeyan and Shyam Sundar all ended with 6.5/9 to finish in 10th, 11th, 18th and 22nd position respectively. Young talent from Andhra Pradesh Rajesh VAV 2249 finished a credible 11th with 6.5/9 for his best performance till date

After World Champion Vishy Anand failed to qualify for the final of the GrenkeLeasing Rapid World Championship, Levon Aronian was clear favorite to win the title against Ian Nepomniachtchi. And indeed, the Armenian had no trouble beating his young opponent 3-1. The only surprise was how easily he seemed to do it. Anand drew his match for third place with Arkadij Naiditsch
