5th Open International de l'Ouest Toulousain

Anton Kovalyov won the 5th Open International Ouest Toulousain after finishing joint first with Yaroslav Zherebukh on 7.5/9 points.

India's Deep Sengupta continued finished 4th in this tournament with 6.5 points along with India's Arghyadip Dasw who finished 6th with same points.

Reykjavik Open 2010
--------------------------------

Former world junior champion Abhijeet Gupta of India finished joint first at the Reykjavik International Open after playing out a quick draw with local star Hannes Stefansson in the final round. Abhijeet tied for the first place with Ivan Sokolov, Yuri Kuzubov and Stefansson who all scored an identical 7.0/9 points.

Former world junior girls' champion D Harika drew her final-round game with Normunds Meizes of Latvia to finish with 6.0/9 points and also made her maiden Grandmaster norm in the event along with the best woman player prize.

2nd Batavia Tournament 2010 - Max Euwe Challenge

Dutch FM Christov Kleijn has won the 2nd Batavia Amsterdam Chess Tournament, otherwise called the Max Euwe Challenge with 6.5/9 points.

14-year-old Khosla Shiven, from India, finished second on 6.0 points. He made an IM norm. Khosla Shiven is the 2009 Asian U14 Youth Chess Champion

32nd Marchand Open 2010

R.Siddharth continues his great form, he finished joint 2nd along with Magesh Chandran in the 32nd Marchand Open 2010 with both finishing at 4.0/5 points. The tourament was won by Eugene Perelshteyn with 4.5/5 points.

18th Fajr International Open

Konstantine Shanava, Top seed Sergei Tiviakov and IM Virginijus Grabliauskas all ended with 9.0/11 points in the 18th Fajr Open.

While Indian GM Neelotpal Das finished 21st with 7.5/11 points.

9th Rochefort International Open

With 126 participants competing Indian, Deep Sengupta won the 9th Rochefort International Chess Open. Deep Sengupta finished ahead of the tournament favorite, the Ukrainian Yuri Solodovnichenko, winner of the 2008 edition with 7/9 points.

Other Indian's also did well Arghyadip Das finished 5th with 6.0/9, Sahaj Grover and Roy Saptarshi finished 15th and 17th with 5.5 and 5.0 points respectively

2010 South Houston Open

Timur Gareev 2590 of Uzbekistan won the 2010 South Houston Open with 4.0/5 points.

India's FM CJ Arvind finished poorly on 20th place with 2.0/5 points.

World Blitz Championship 2010 - Qualifiers
----------------------------------

The 2010 World Blitz Championship Preliminaries were held on 18th February 2010 in Moscow, Russia.Top six players qualify for the World Blitz Chess Championship.

World Junior Champion Maxime Vachier-Lagrave from France won six matches, drew three, and took the clear first place with 13.5 individual points.Seven players shared the 2nd place, with 13 points each, but only five qualified for the final event. By the additional criteria, these players are: Bu Xiangzhi, Rauf Mamedov, Boris Grachev, Boris Savchenko and Ian Nepomniachtchi.

India's Krishnan Sasikiran putup a great show to finish with 11 points.

26th Cappelle-la-Grande Open 2010
----------------------------------

Yaroslav Zherebukh won the tournament with a last round draw against Indian prodigy Negi. Yaroslav Zherebukh finished with 7.5/9 at top, while Negi finished joint second with 7/9 points

Other Indian's in the fray Chanda finished 21st with 6.5/9, while Gopal and Gupta ended with 6/9 to finish 34th and 75th respectively.

Uxbridge International Alekhine Group February 2010

GM Danny Gormally won the tournament 1.5 points ahead of his nearest rival to finish with 7.5/9 points

First Saturday Chess Tournament February 2010
----------------------------------

Rapport Richard (HUN) has achieved his second GM norm. He will be just 14 year old on 25th March 2010. He scored 10 points of 12 games to win the Tournament convincingly.

India's Dinesh Kumar Sharma finished fourth with 6.5/12 and also gained 17 elo points for his performance.

Aeroflot Open 2010 - A1

The 18-year-old from Vietnam stole the show this week at Aeroflot open, Quang Liem secured several eminent scalps, took first prize unbeaten with 7/9, and followed up his victories with first in Moscow Open, second in Kolkata Open and impressive performance in Asian Team championship. Liem is now close to the 2700 in live rankings.

Indian Krishnan Sasikiran finished 30th with 5/9 but gained elo's since his oppenent's are higher rated. He is also in the verge of crossing 2700

8th International Caspian Cup
----------------------------------
Farid Abbasov is first with 7/9 points. The same result was shown by Azer Mirzoyev and Toufighi Homayoon but lagged behind to Abbasov in tie-breaks.

Indian GM Sriram Jha finished 17th with 5.5/9 points.

24th North American Masters

The 24th North American Masters, FM Robby Adamson won the tournament and secured his second IM norm at the event, with a final score of 6.5/10. He won the tournament 1.5 points ahead of his next rival

Indian IM Arjun Vishnuvardhan finished joint 2nd with 5/10 points.

Moscow Open 2010

Konstantin Chernyshov, Evgeny Bareev, Le Quang Liem and Ernesto Inarkiev all finished on 7/9 to tie for 1st place. With better tie-break score Chernyshov won the title.

Indian hope Krishnan Sasikiran finished 5th with 6.5/9 after drawing Evgeny Bareev in the last round.

8th Gibtelecom Chess Masters Open
------------------------------

There was a tie for first place with 9 players with 7.5/10 points. The top four players on tie-break played off in a knockout.

Michael Adams beat Jan Gustafsson 2-1
Francisco Vallejo Pons beat Chanda Sandipan 1.5-0.5.
Adams beat Vallejo 1.5-0.5 in the final of the playoff to take the title.

India's Gopal also ended with 7.5 points but finished 8th on lower tie break score

Caissa Chess Tournament GM January 2010 - Kecskemet

China's Yu, Lie finished joint first with Galyas, Miklos of Hungary in the Caissa GM Chess Tournament January - Kecskemet with 6/9 points. He earned 35 elo points from this tourament alone.

India's Padmini, Rout finished fifth with a fifty percent score of 4.5/9 and earned 25 elo points.

Chennai Open 2010

Russian Grandmaster Maxim Turov with overall 9.5 points won the Chennai Open.

R Siddharth, the local youngster who secured his maiden Grandmaster norm yesterday, scored yet another resounding win over Ashwin Jayaram to finish third with 9/11.

Lalith Babu, who complete his second Grand Master norm in this open drew with Richard Bitoon of the Philippines after 34 moves on board two to take the fourth place with 9/11 points.
